As Editor-in-Chief of USA TODAY's Travel Media Group, she:
  • Grew USA TODAY's Travel site from No. 19 to No. 5 for travel news and information sites, as measured by comScore, with 7 million unique visitors and 35 million page views per month.
  • Spearheaded multiple sponsored-content series that generated millions in ad revenue.
  • Achieved double the average readership for USA TODAY’s print travel section vs. any other newspaper travel section (62% vs. 30%).
  • Led the cross-platform convergence of the print and online travel staffs at USA TODAY, a pioneer effort for the company.

As Editor-in-Chief of Caribbean Travel & Life, she:
  • Succeeded in making the magazine the second best-selling travel magazine on the newsstand.
  • Established the magazine as leader in its niche with 20% annual advertising growth from 1992 to 1997. 

Product Launches

Veronica has deep expertise in developing innovative multimedia products on multiple platforms.  
  • Oversaw creation of award-winning blogs for USA TODAY on air travel (“Today in the Sky”), cruising (“The Cruise Log”), hotels (“Hotel Check-In”), and destinations (“Dispatches”).

  • Managed the creation of original destination guides for 75 U.S. cities for a first-of-its-kind digital platform created for Hilton Worldwide, available in 470,000+ hotel rooms at more than 32,000 properties across the U.S.  Hotel guests access the guides via the hotel's Internet service or on their mobile devices.

  • Directed content creation for five niche travel-planning sites for USA TODAY on topics including Beach, Caribbean, Cruise, Food and Wine, and Las Vegas. The platform drove significant YOY increases in both traffic (45% PV growth) and visitor engagement (PV/V).

  • Managed editorial content partnerships with Fodor’s, TripAdvisor, the Food Network, Hilton Worldwide, SmarterTravel.com, Travel Channel, Demand Media, Laura McKenzie's Traveler, and many others.  
  • Developed a USA TODAY video training academy with the New York Video School.
